BBK: Track Response

  • Although it is hard to tell from this acoustic version of the song the track is from the alternative rock genre, you can tell by the use of rock instruments such as electric guitar and bass as well as the  use of upbeat riffs backed with steady bass line including verse and chorus.
  • This particular video is an example of a lo fi video however not an official music video, this is due to the amateur style filming and low budget.
  • A comparable songs music video may be:

  • 'Riptide' by Vance Joy comes from a similar genre to The Family Rains music and costume themes and style. This video in particular reflects a vintage almost French new wave filming style, using grainy footage to illustratively represent the lyrics in the song.
  • I particularly like the visual style of the video, its colour grading and shot styles such as extreme zooms and swish pans bare resemblance to the directorial style of Wes Anderson.

  • Precise colour selection and obscure filming techniques, the use of close-ups of hands runs as a motif throughout the video.
  • Vintage clothing and interesting accessories fit in with style shared by the family rain, The mise-en-scene of this video of costume and props could be useful towards producing a Family Rain video.

  • LS zooms into mid-shot of a women holding a pair of binoculars, a direct link to the song by The Family Rain and a interesting unconventional camera technique to be considered for our own video.
