Narrative: The first line of the song is “lay the
track, on my back, I just stand here waiting”. This line, along with the title
suggests the song is about the stresses of everyday life piling up
Location: For this reason, I think a bar/pub would be
an interesting location for the video, as many people to turn to drink when
stresses get too much, hence the phrase “drink to forget”
Performance: I think the video should mainly be
narrative rather than focusing on the band’s performance, but the band should
be in the video subtly, perhaps playing live music at the bar, but just in the
background, perhaps even out of focus
Characters: I
think the video should mainly follow the main character, a man whose life has
perhaps taken a turn for the worse. Other characters may include relevant
figures in his life, such as his wife, or boss
Costume and Props: Costume should predominantly be
regular clothes, perhaps a suit for work, but ruffled and tattered to show the
man’s dire situation. As for props, most of it will probably be pints of beer,
although perhaps some kind of weapon is involved, to “solve” his problems
Colour: Despite the situation, I believe the
colour should be almost warm. The orange lights in the streets and dim light of
the bar almost acts like a shelter to the man’s situation, but acts as an
ironic visualizer, as he situation is far from solved
Lighting: I imagined the lighting to be rather
low-key. The sort of dim/misty light of an old English pub. The -lighting will
also be low-key outside the pub as the video will be set late at night
